About Harlequin
Welcome to the website of Harlequin - Eastwood
Theatre for Youth, one of the leading amateur youth theatre companies in
Scotland. Harlequin was set up in 1977 and has for the last 46 years
provided opportunities for young people to be involved in theatre within
the East Renfrewshire area. The club aims to perform three shows per year, historically in
Eastwood Park Theatre.
For the first time in May 2022 Harlequin created a bespoke theatre space within Stamperland Church, supported in the build by KF Sound and Lighting when we brought Matilda JR. to the stage. This was followed by another first, performing in the Village Theatre in East Kilbride in October 2022 with The Addams Family. Since then we have been back at Eastwood Park Theatre with the panto, Aladdin and in June 2023 our sell out production of Frozen JR. We were back to the Village Theatre in October 2023 with Legally Blonde for a sell out run and we are currently rehearsing for Mother Goose which will be at Eastwood Park Theatre from 16th January 2024!
Harlequin was honoured to be awarded in its 40th Year the Utopia Costumes NODA Youth Award in recognition of our contribution to our local community both in terms of our performances but also in respect of our charitable endeavours and in promoting and encouraging young people to have careers in the arts.
Harlequin was awarded charitable status in 2022 and took the opportunity to rebrand itself as Harlequin Youth Theatre. Our SCIO number is SC052420.
